Description

The 153rd edition of The Open Championship returns to the iconic Royal Portrush Golf Club, hosting the major for just the third time—previously in 1951 and 2019. Known for its dramatic coastal layout and legendary holes like Calamity Corner (Hole 16), the Dunluce Links sets the stage for what promises to be another thrilling chapter in Open history.

 

Star-Studded Field

 

Golf’s elite will compete for the Claret Jug, including:

  • Xander Schauffele (defending champion)
     
  • Rory McIlroy (returning to his home course)
     
  • Shane Lowry (2019 Open Champion at Portrush)
     
  • Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, Collin Morikawa, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Cameron Smith

A total of 156 players will participate, with spots secured through the Open Qualifying Series and exemptions via global tours.

Tournament Format

 

  • 72-hole stroke play
     
  • Cut after 36 holes (Top 70 and ties advance)
     
  • Playoff (if necessary): 3-hole aggregate followed by sudden death
