Indian golfer Diksha Dagar made a significant climb to the 11th spot on the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit following her outstanding performance at the Joburg Ladies Open, where she secured third place and a prize payout of US $16,780.05. This achievement also marked a career milestone for her as she reached her highest world ranking, standing at 138th.

Diksha showcased her prowess on the greens by carding rounds of 73, 71, 69, and 70, finishing with a total score of 9-under to secure the tied third position at the Joburg Ladies Open, which saw rookie Chiara Tamburlini clinch the victory at Modderfontein Golf Club.

In her five appearances in 2024, Diksha has consistently delivered commendable performances, securing top-10 finishes three times. Notably, she achieved a tied 9th position at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco, a tied 6th place at the Aramco Ladies Florida, and another tied 3rd finish at the Joburg Ladies Open.

Joining Diksha at the Joburg Ladies Open were fellow Indian golfers Tvesa Malik, Vani Kapoor, and Ridhima Dilawari, who secured the T-29, T-41, and T-66 positions, respectively.

Chiara Tamburlini

Chiara Tamburlini won the Joburg Ladies Open, the eighth event of the Ladies European Tour season, taking home her title on the European Tour as well as her share of the US $319,620. Tamburlini's paycheck for winning the Joburg Ladies Open was US $47,943.

Looking ahead, Diksha is gearing up for the Investec South African Women’s Open at the scenic Erinvale Country and Golf Estate. The tournament, scheduled from April 25-28, will feature 120 players representing 34 nations, including Tvesa, Vani, and Ridhima from India.

The event holds special significance as it marks the eighth stop on the 2024 LET schedule and serves as the finale of the Sunshine Ladies Tour, which will co-sanction the event.

Erinvale Country and Golf Estate, known for its picturesque beauty, has previously hosted prestigious golfing events, including the Investec South African Open and the men's World Cup of Golf.

A star-studded lineup is expected at the tournament, with prominent players like Bronte Law from England, Chiara Tamburlini from Switzerland, and Shannon Tan from Singapore, currently ranking among the top five in the Order of Merit, set to compete.

Past champions including Alice Hewson, Diksha Dagar, Lee Ann Pace, and Tandi McCallum add to the excitement of the event. However, defending champion Ashleigh Buhai will be absent from the competition in Cape Town, having participated in the Chevron Championship the previous week.
