Sunday Golf, Monday Regret: When Bad Rounds Haunt Your Week

"Why so quiet this morning, Son?"
My mother asked during our Sunday family WhatsApp call.
I smiled politely. “Just a long week, Mom.”

But in truth?
A triple bogey on 17, a missed 3-footer, and a swing so off-tempo, even the intern from work outdrove me. Twice.

It All Starts With One Bad Round

Ask any Indian club golfer or touring pro, and they’ll tell you—Golf is not a game; it’s an emotion.
And sometimes, that emotion hijacks your entire week.

  • If you're reading this, chances are you’ve lived it.
    The Monday fog.
    The midweek slump.
The Friday date where you're thinking about switching to a stiffer shaft instead of weekend plans.

  • Because in golf, there’s no one else to blame. No teammate, no referee. Just you, your clubs, and the echo of a bad round that lingers longer than it should.

"Golf doesn't just live in your swing. It rents space in your mind. With no intention of leaving."

Why Does It Hit So Hard?

Because Golf is personal.
Unlike cricket or football, there’s no teammate to blame. It's you vs. you.
You can spend ₹1 lakh on new irons, hit 500 balls on the range, and still watch your Sunday round unraveling faster than a misaligned grip.

According to a study we just made up but feels accurate, 93% of Indian corporate golfers experience:

  • Mood Swings post-bogey blow-ups

  • Silent Treatment to partners after a lost bet

  • Performance Dips on Monday (in meetings, not on fairways)

Sound familiar? Congratulations. You’re one of us.

Even the pros aren't immune. One missed cut and they’re rewatching swing footage like a Netflix crime series.
A touring pro in Delhi Once Said: "Sometimes, I relive bad shots during my morning meditation. My mind says 'Om,' but my heart says 'Out of Bounds.'

So, What’s the Fix?

Meditation? Maybe.
Blaming the caddie? Tempting.
Switching to a graphite shaft? Already done that.

Or… turn regret into reward.
