Till yesterday, i did not realise the BIG secret behind the 020 / Auto press format. A friend of mine 'Chaitanya', spilled the beans at DGC yesterday.
Never play 020 format if the Handicap between the players is more than a difference of 3 shots. This format becomes an advantage for better players, specially who are the back markers and who are giving 5 shots or more. The reason is as follows:
The 020 format is actually based on how you play in the last 5 holes which we call the 'Money country'. Interestingly, only 10% of the shots which are given to weaker players, fall in the last 5 holes. Where as 90% of the scoring goes UP or DOWN in the last 5 holes. .... :-)
